I should be going to sleep (I have a 7:30 meeting in the morning) but instead I'm desperately sifting through my harddrive trying to find things to write.

Title: Seven Words
Word Count: 100
Pairings: Sirius/James, James/Lily
Author's Note: I think this was originally for a first-sentence prompt over at the Sirius/James Yahoogroup. It's been sitting on my harddrive for... who knows how long. But I did a minor revision tonight and here you go.

“James, I think I’m going into labour.”

Seven words and James was running around and Lily was making her way to St. Mungo’s.

Seven words and Sirius knew it was over. Over for good, for real, for ever.

“It was over a long time ago,” whispered the nasty voice in his head.

But it was real this time, Sirius argued back. James didn’t just have a wife, he had a son now. He had a family.

“And you don’t belong,” the voice told him.

Seven simple words. James had a family that wasn’t him; Sirius would never belong.

Seven words.
